The First Regional Symposium

About the Symposium

The LASA Regional Symposium is a new initiative that seeks to organize a more intimate space for researchers inside and outside the academy to discuss critical issues and topics in specific sub-regions of Latin America. The regional symposiums also seek to promote networking and collaboration among LASA members and nonmembers.

LASA Central America 2026 is the inaugural LASA Regional Symposium. LASA membership is not required to submit a proposal or to participate in this event.

The LASA Central America 2026 organizing committee invites researchers inside and outside of the academy to submit proposals for individual papers, panel sessions, roundtables, workshops, and book presentations about critical issues in Central America today (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama). Comparative papers and panels will be considered as long as they include a Central American element.
