Types of Travel Grants

LASA is pleased to present three categories of travel grants to support attendance at the LASA Regional Symposium on Central America 2026 in Costa Rica. These grants, made possible through the efforts of the LASA Central America Program Committee and the generous support of the Ford Foundation, aim to expand access and foster inclusive participation in this important academic event.

Travel Fund

The Travel Fund provides direct travel support for scholars, students, and activists traveling from Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.

Indigenous and Afro-Descendant Travel Fund

The Indigenous and Afro-Descendant Travel Fund provides travel support for indigenous and afro-descendant participants from Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.

LGBTQIA+ Travel Fund

The LGBTQIA+ Travel Fund provides direct travel support to LGBTQIA+ individuals residing anywhere in the world.

Eligibility and Application Information

To be eligible for a travel grant, applicants must have an accepted paper submitted to a panel or as an individual paper for presentation at the symposium.
