International Airport Juan Santamaría (SJO)

The Juan Santamaría International Airport is located approximately 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) from the city center. The journey time is approximately 30 minutes. For your safety, please use only official transportation options authorized by the government of Costa Rica.

Official Taxis

For a direct and secure transfer, the airport offers taxi fleets legally authorized by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), available 24 hours a day outside the arrivals terminal. The travel time between the airport and downtown San José is 25-40 minutes, depending on traffic.

Orange Taxis
The exclusive official airport fleet. Please note that the price depends on your destination and is fixed directly at the reservation counter inside the terminal. The estimated cost to the city center is around $25 to $30 USD (approx. â‚¡15,000 CRC).

Red Taxis
Official public service taxis (identified by a golden triangle on the doors). These units are legally required to use a taximeter (locally known as "María"), which calculates the fare based on distance and travel time.

Ride App

Uber operates throughout Costa Rica and is a convenient transportation option for traveling to and from the event.

Attention!

The University of Costa Rica (UCR) Research Campus, where the Faculty of Social Sciences is located, has two entrances.

Monterrey Street Entrance
If you are arriving by Uber, use this address to reach the entrance closest to the symposium building.

Lanamme Entrance
This is the main vehicle entrance. If you enter through this gate, ask the driver to continue past the security checkpoint and drop you off in front of the Faculty of Social Sciences building, as it can take up to 20 minutes to walk from the entrance.
